Respiratory Therapist - Ochsner Westbank

Job Summary
Provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to in-patients and out-patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. Conduct RT-CRT set-ups, monitor and wean oxygen therapy, and deliver artificial ventilation while drawing, analyzing, and reporting arterial blood gases and EKGs. Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, review and document clinical information, and educate patients and co-workers on treatment plans. Adapt communication styles to specific patient populations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Requires a Louisiana license, NBRC certification, and BLS; offers up to $15,000 sign-on bonus. Schedule includes 24/7 coverage, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability with flexible hours.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current State of Louisiana License as a Respiratory Therapist
- Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
