Job Summary
Administer medically prescribed medications and therapeutic modalities including IPPB, IS, USN, HHN, and MDI while monitoring oxygen administration and cylinder safety. Perform bedside pulmonary function tests, arterial punctures, hemodynamic line draws, and sputum inductions. Maintain ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment through daily preventive maintenance, calibration, and quality controls. Conduct blood gas analysis and participate in code team responses for CPR and manual ventilation during transport. Document clinical notes accurately, report patient progress to the next shift, and attend required safety training and staff meetings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care
- Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care
- National Board of Respiratory Care
- BLS
- ACLS (cardiac and rehab staff)
- Working knowledge of problem solving and decision making skills
- Working knowledge of digital literacy skills
- Pulmonary Function test (PFT)
- Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)
- Stress test
- Home sleep study
- IN-Lab sleep study
- Electroencephalogram (EEG)
- Holter monitor
- Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)
- Six minute walk test
- Phase I-Initial assessment
- Phase II-individualized plan including monitored exercises
- Phase III-self-controlled long term maintenance
