Job Summary
Monitor patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary issues during the night shift, providing emergency care as needed. Evaluate lung capacities and treat patients using oxygen mixtures and respiratory therapy machinery. Set up and operate various types of equipment while educating patients on independent breathing device usage. Track patient progress through regular tests. Requires an associate degree in respiratory therapy (bachelor's preferred), current state license, BLS certification, and ability to work 12-hour night shifts including weekends and holidays. Must follow OSHA guidelines and universal precautions regarding exposure risks.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in respiratory therapy or a related field
- Bachelor's degree
- State license required to practice
- Current state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to operate commonly used types of respiratory therapy equipment
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergency situations
- Good physical and emotional health
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods
- Ability to lift and move patients
- Ability to work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and home healthcare
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays
- Must be willing to come to work during inclement weather
