Job Summary

Assess patient physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions while documenting educational needs. Perform respiratory therapy treatments including oxygen management, ventilator monitoring, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion, spirometry testing, and blood gas analysis. Operate and manage all respiratory equipment, review electronic medical records and physician orders, and respond to cardiopulmonary resuscitation by maintaining airways and providing ventilation via mask or endotracheal tube. Apply therapeutic communication, interviewing techniques, and crisis intervention principles during patient care. Contribute to department goals by adhering to safety standards, governmental regulations, and accreditation protocols while facilitating workflow efficiency and monitoring interdepartmental systems. Work full-time nightshift, three days weekly on rotating weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher from an AMA accredited program in respiratory care
  • 0-3 years of acute care experience
  • Registry eligible
  • CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC)
  • Must process and maintain license to practice Respiratory Care in the District of Columbia
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
  • Working knowledge of human respiratory anatomy physiology and pathology as related to respiratory care
  • Knowledge of the operation of respiratory care equipment and its application in a clinical setting
  • Ability to assess hazardous conditions related to respiratory care and take corrective action
  • Ability to remain calm and function under stressful conditions
  • Must work well as a team member
  • Must be articulate and communicate well with all types of people
  • Full-time Nightshift
  • three days each week
  • Weekdays and rotating weekends

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related healthcare field
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC)
