Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist administers pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic respiratory care under physician orders, performing assessments, monitoring patient responses, and implementing treatment plans to promote effective respiratory care. Duties include orienting patients to treatment modalities, performing ABG punctures, assisting with bedside procedures, conducting pulmonary testing, following safety protocols, maintaining equipment, ensuring proper documentation, communicating with peers and leadership, ensuring proper PPE and infection-control measures, managing ventilator settings and airway maintenance, and applying age-specific care considerations. The role requires collaboration with healthcare teams, adherence to regulatory standards, and ongoing professional development; responsibilities may include emergency interventions and other duties as assigned. Licensure and certifications required include RRT, BCLS, ACLS, PALS, with additional NICU contingencies (NRP and STABLE) where applicable, plus state-specific requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support required
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation if working in the NICU Department required
  • STABLE - Neonatal Certification if working in the NICU Department required
  • State Specific Requirements: Georgia: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required. Successful completion of assigned SAMA course within 30 days of hire required
