Job Summary
New Grad Respiratory Therapist at Ochsner Health responsible for providing respiratory care and oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. Performs ABG analysis, monitors and weans oxygen therapy, documents clinical information, and educates patients and staff on treatment plans. Requires an Associate's Degree, active state license as a Respiratory Therapist, NBRC CRT credential, BLS, and up-to-date certifications with ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire; NRP required for NICU roles. Must have strong computer, data-entry, and communication skills, and be capable of performing routine and advanced therapeutic procedures while maintaining certifications and compliance with policies. The role may be on-site in Crowley, LA, with standard hospital duties and equal opportunity employment policies.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate's Degree
- License: Current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice
- Credential: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) by NBRC
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certification: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for NICU-trained therapists
- Certification: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
- Certification: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire
- Computer skills with Windows-based applications
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Analytical skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
- Ability to perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures
- Ability to maintain professional certifications
