Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting providing respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to neonatal through geriatric patients. Responsibilities include monitoring and weaning Oxygen Therapy and Artificial ventilation, obtaining and reporting arterial blood gases and EKGs, assisting with artificial airways, and delivering services as ordered by a physician per policies. Duties cover routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, documenting clinical information, educating patients and coworkers, performing diagnostic procedures, and maintaining up-to-date certifications and knowledge of procedures. Requires Associate's Degree, state license, and specific certifications (BLS, NRP for NICU, ACLS and PALS within specified periods). Strong data-entry, communication, and interpersonal skills are emphasized; physical demands and compliance with regulations are noted. Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
- Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (only for trained therapists working in the NICU)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
