Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist position for new graduates across all locations at Ochsner Health. Responsibilities include performing respiratory care treatments, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients; monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation; drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases and EKGs; assisting with artificial airways; providing patient- and physician-guided services under established policies. Requires state license, NBRC CRT credential, BLS, and within 90 days ACLS and PALS (NRP for NICU). Strong computer skills and effective communication are needed. The role emphasizes adherence to compliance, safety, and continuous professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
- Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (only for trained therapists working in the NICU)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Education: Associate's Degree
