Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for patients from neonatal to geriatric in-patients and out-patients. Responsibilities include monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, analyzing arterial blood gases, performing related diagnostics (EKG, ABG), assisting with artificial airways, and delivering therapies per physician orders. Requires Associate's Degree, state licensure, CRT credential, BLS, and within 90 days ACLS and PALS; NICU required NRP for NICU staff. Emphasis on data entry, documentation, patient and staff education, ongoing professional development, and adherence to compliance standards. Physically capable of heavy exertion as described; commits to safety and equal opportunity employment.
Required Qualifications
- Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
- Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (only for trained therapists working in the NICU)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
