Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist - New Grad at Ochsner Health responsible for providing respiratory care treatments, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to in-patients and out-patients across ages from neonatal to geriatric. Performs arterial blood gas analysis, monitors and weans oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, assists with airway management, educates patients and co-workers, and maintains up-to-date certifications. Requires Associate's Degree, state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, and certifications including RRT, BLS, NRP (NICU), ACLS and PALS within specified timelines. Strong computer, communication, analytical and interpersonal skills are expected, with duties spanning clinical procedures, documentation, staff education, and adherence to regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
- Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (only for trained therapists working in the NICU)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
