Job Summary
Administer continuous oxygen and bland aerosol therapy, perform intermittent therapy and diagnostic procedures, and initiate mechanical ventilation while maintaining appropriate documentation. Manage airway management, ventilation, and closed chest compression during emergency resuscitation, including intubations after approval. Access medication from the Medication Security Area and monitor equipment per department guidelines. Perform as charge therapist when necessary and assess patient response to respiratory care. Respond to resuscitation situations and other respiratory emergencies as needed. Maintain and complete documentation in patient charts and departmental records.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT)
- Licensed by the NCRCB
- BCLS certified by the American Heart Association
- 1 year of clinical experience
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Understanding of medical terminology and current respiratory care modalities
- Ability to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co-workers, patients, and hospital guests
- Knowledgeable of the psychosocial and physiological development and spiritual needs of infants, children, adolescents, and all adult age groups (per Erickson's Model)
- Ability to communicate orally
- Manual dexterity to operate and assemble equipment
- Visual acuity
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to position and move patients
- Ability to push heavy equipment to patients' bedsides
- May involve skin, eye, and mucous membranes with blood or other potentially infectious materials
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year of clinical experience preferred
