Job Summary

Conduct respiratory care including airway management, CPR, medical gas therapy, and emergency care for adult and geriatric patients. Collect specimens safely and assist physicians and nursing staff in assessing patients and designing therapy regimens. Ensure all procedures align with physician orders, Life Care standards, and applicable laws while maintaining infection control and patient safety. Make independent clinical decisions and communicate patient conditions effectively to interdisciplinary teams. Maintain professional relationships, uphold confidentiality, and adhere to company policies and the Code of Conduct. Requires current CRT or RRT licensure, three years of experience, and CPR certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently licensed in respiratory care in current State of practice
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in respiratory care
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Therapy (NBRC)
  • Have and maintain current CPR certification
  • Possess demonstrated teaching proficiency
  • Ability to educate a wide variety of personnel including other disciplines, patients, and caregivers
  • Ability to effectively communicate information concerning a patient's condition
  • Strong analytical ability to understand pathophysiology
  • Ability to make recommendations to physicians regarding the most appropriate treatment of diseases
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
  • Ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Proficiency in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Ability to understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct
  • Ability to complete mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
  • Ability to collect specimens from adult and geriatric patients appropriately and safely
  • Ability to conduct respiratory care including but not limited to: establishment and maintenance of airway; CPR; medical gas and O2 therapy; humidity and aerosol therapy; infection control; suctioning; and emergency care
  • Ability to ensure that respiratory therapy is administered in accordance with physician orders and standards of practice
  • Ability to assist physicians and nursing, upon request, in assessing patients and designing appropriate therapy regimens
  • Excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentration and use of reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Ability to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
