Job Summary
2nd-year Respiratory Therapy student internship in Neenah providing pediatric-to-adult respiratory care under supervision. Performs delegated respiratory care modalities (pulmonary hygiene, medical gas administration, humidity and aerosol systems, pharmacologic drug administration, and positive pressure devices), assists with setting up and cleaning equipment, and responds to changes in patient status in emergent/urgent situations. Demonstrates communication and collaboration within CHS and medical staff; participates in educational programs and interdisciplinary meetings; seeks assistance for learning needs. Requires BLS and enrollment in a CoARC-approved program, with a 16-hour biweekly commitment, and knowledge of pediatric to adult patient care. Also notes affiliation with Children’s Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin, and emphasizes a kid-focused, safety-conscious healthcare environment.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrollment in the second year of a CoARC approved program in Respiratory Therapy
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
- Demonstrates competency and ability to perform delegated respiratory care modalities under supervision (e.g., pulmonary hygiene, medical gas administration, humidity and aerosol systems, pharmacologic drug administration, positive pressure devices)
- Ability to stand/walk up to 80% of work time; lift/carry up to 25 lb; push/pull equipment up to 170 lb
- Commit to a minimum of 16 hours every two weeks
- Respectful communication and teamwork with CHS/medical staff
