Job Summary

Deliver respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, and ventilation support to in-patients and out-patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. Monitor and wean oxygen therapy, draw and analyze arterial blood gases, and deliver intermittent therapy as ordered by a physician. Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, including changing artificial airways, while reviewing and documenting clinical information for each patient encounter. Educate patients and the healthcare team on procedures and treatment plans, adapting communication styles to specific patient populations. Complete this 8-week assignment in the New Orleans region, requiring an Associate's degree in respiratory therapy, two years of experience, and current licensure with BLS and ACLS certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in respiratory therapy
  • 2 years respiratory therapy experience
  • Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
  • Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Must be able to work in an area where patients enter and works directly with patients
  • Must be able to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
  • Must remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility

  • Bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
