Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist II in the NICU working Part-time Nights (24 hrs/week) at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Responsibilities include medication administration and implementing respiratory care in complex patient-care situations, ventilator management and weaning, arterial blood gas collection/analysis, invasive and non-invasive procedures, and patient/family education. Role includes education/mentoring of new employees and students, collaboration with the healthcare team, and commitment to safety and quality in a critical care environment. Requires graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program, an Associate's Degree (Bachelor's preferred), and 0-2 years of clinical experience with emphasis on critical care; licensure/certifications include RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and related credentials.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science
- Associate's Degree
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 0-2 years clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- ACLS (Instructor/Provisional versions acceptable)
- PALS (Instructor/Provisional versions acceptable)
- NRP (Instructor/Provisional versions acceptable)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
- Ventilator management and related critical care procedures
- Arterial blood gas sampling and analysis
- Invasive and non-invasive procedures in the NICU
- Education and mentoring of staff and students
