Respiratory Therapist II, FT Nights (NICU)

Job Summary
Administer aerosolized medication, manage ventilators, and perform arterial blood gas sampling while delivering care to complex, multiple-problem patients in critical care areas. Conduct patient assessments, coordinate activities, and educate patients, families, and new employees on respiratory care needs. Interpret wave form graphics, manage airway procedures including intubation and extubation, and collaborate with the health care team to plan patient care. Complete documentation, promote medication safety, and participate in performance improvement initiatives. Work night shifts in the NICU with an understanding of population-specific biological, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science
- Associate's Degree A.S. degree
- NBRC-RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist
- RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner
- BLS - Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS-I - PALS - Instructor
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Provider or NRP-P - NRP-Provisional (180 Days) or NRP-I - NRP - Instructor
- 0-2 yrs clinical experience with minimal 6-months critical care
- Ability to communicate well
- Critical thinking skills
- Establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals
- Computer skills including familiarity with databases
- Good customer relation, assessment, and communication skills
