Job Summary
Administer medication, manage protocol ventilators, and perform airway management including intubation and extubation for complex, multiple problem-patient care situations. Conduct patient assessments, perform arterial blood gas sampling, and deliver aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, and oxygen therapy. Provide patient, family, and support system education while mentoring new employees, students, and peers. Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan care and participate in performance improvement initiatives. Work night shifts in critical care areas with significant independent decision-making and self-direction.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science
- Associates Degree A.S. degree
- NBRC-RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist
- RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner
- BLS - Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS-I - PALS - Instructor
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Provider or NRP-P - NRP-Provisional (180 Days) or NRP-I - NRP - Instructor
- 0-2 yrs clinical experience with minimal 6-months critical care
- Ability to communicate well
- Critical thinking skills
- Establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals
- Computer skills including familiarity with databases
- Good customer relation, assessment, and communication skills
- Night (United States of America) shift availability
