Job Summary

Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate Respiratory Therapy care for patients while documenting treatment plans and outcomes. Manage oxygen therapy initiation, monitoring, and discontinuation; conduct pulmonary function testing and maintain equipment calibration. Assist physicians with bronchoscopy procedures and sample procurement, perform arterial line insertions and blood gas punctures, and conduct weaning protocols for patients on respiratory modalities. Accompany patients during inter/intra hospital transport requiring respiratory support and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Provide clinical supervision and evaluation for students, contribute to procedure development, and complete health record reports. Maintain knowledge of current developments in respiratory therapy and gather relevant data for multi-dimensional assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy
  • Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) Certified
  • Effective communication with patients/residents, families, staff, physicians, and healthcare providers
  • Proficiency in performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures
  • Ability to gather relevant data and conduct multi-dimensional assessments
  • Competence in conducting patient/resident assessments
  • Understanding of other healthcare disciplines and their roles
  • Skill in eliciting information to understand patient/resident situations thoroughly
  • Independence in prioritizing workload and tasks
  • Participation in research activities
  • Supervision and teaching of students
  • Development and delivery of in-services and presentations
