Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist I (RT-I) is responsible for assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing disorders. Key duties include initiating and conducting therapeutic procedures, maintaining patient records, and operating equipment. The position requires an active NYS respiratory therapy license and a Basic Life Support certification. Experience in an academic medical center, particularly with pediatric and adult critical care, as well as knowledge of emergency procedures and patient transport, is highly desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed by the NYS Department of Education as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Possess active NYS Respiratory Therapist License with up-to-date CE profile
- Active Basic Life Support certificate
- At least 1 year of experience as RRT in an academic medical center environment
- Ability to assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders
Desired Qualifications
- Active ACLS certification (preferred)
- Experience with emergency department procedures (highly desirable)
- Experience with patient transport (both inter- and intra-hospital)
- Exposure to the management of neonatal patients (desirable)
