Job Summary

Respiratory Therapist - Full-time Nights at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Provide patient-centered respiratory care, coordinate with an interdisciplinary team, and implement therapy plans from assessment to discharge. Responsibilities include delivering bronchodilator, ventilator, and pulmonary hygiene therapies; airway management; sleep-disorder screening; Bipap/CPAP and oxygen therapy; performing diagnostic procedures (EKGs, blood gases, TCOM monitoring); ensuring safety and quality improvement; educating patients and families; and contributing to performance improvement and department operations. Requires active Michigan RRT credential, an associate degree, and ACLS/PALS certification, with a 90-day window for registry exam and up to nine months to obtain credentials if needed. Nights, 36 hours per week, with a sign-on bonus potential. Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork are essential to deliver high-quality rehabilitation-focused respiratory care.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of Michigan
  • Newly graduated respiratory therapist have 90 days to successfully complete registry exam
  • Associates degree is required
  • Current ACLS and PALS certification
  • May obtain within nine months of assuming the position
  • Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapist is preferred but not required
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, delegation, and leadership skills are required
  • Time management and organizational skills are very important, as well as effective written and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in Michigan
  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
  • Current ACLS and PALS certification
  • Experience as a Respiratory Therapist (preferred)
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, delegation, and leadership skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work under time constraints and handle interruptions
  • Ability to work in a team and provide patient-centered care
  • Ability to perform respiratory care procedures (bronchodilator care, ventilator care, pulmonary hygiene therapy, airway management, BiPAP/CPAP therapy, oxygen therapy)
  • Ability to perform diagnostic procedures (EKGs, blood gas analysis, TCOM monitoring)
  • Willingness to comply with department policies and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to travel within department scope if needed
  • Commitment to safety, quality improvement, and patient education
  • Capability to participate in orientation, training, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work a night shift and 36-hour work week
  • Ability to communicate with patients and families as part of patient-centered care
  • Understanding of discharge coordination and patient education
