Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist position performing respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, drawing/analyzing/reporting arterial blood gases and EKGs, assisting with artificial airways, and delivering therapies per physician orders and policies. Educates patients and healthcare team, performs routine and advanced procedures, and stays compliant with regulatory standards. Requires an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy, NBRC credential, state licensure, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP within specified timelines, and 2 years of experience. Proficiency with hospital computer systems and strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy (required)
- Current license as a respiratory therapist in state of practice (required)
- Credentialed by NBRC as certified or registered respiratory therapist (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA (required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from AHA within 90 days of hire (required)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from AHA within 90 days of hire (required)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from AAP or AHA (required)
- 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (required)
