Job Summary

Provide respiratory care to all patient populations by assessing physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions while documenting educational needs. Perform treatments including oxygen delivery, ventilator management, bronchial hygiene, spirometry testing, and blood gas analysis. Operate and monitor respiratory equipment, review electronic medical records and physician orders, and participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Apply therapeutic communication, problem-solving, and crisis intervention techniques. Maintain licensure in Maryland or the District of Columbia, hold a CRT certification, and possess less than one year of acute care experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree Graduate of an AMA accredited program in respiratory care with an AAS Degree or higher
  • Bachelor's degree Baccalaureate degree in related healthcare field preferred
  • Less than 1 year Acute Care experience
  • Registry eligible
  • RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner Must process and maintain license to practice Respiratory Care in Maryland and/or the District of Columbia based on hospital location
  • CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist Licensed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist Registered respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification ACLS NRP PALS and other certifications are required within a year where required within a year
  • Working knowledge of human respiratory anatomy physiology and pathology as related to respiratory care
  • Knowledge of the operation of respiratory care equipment and its application in a clinical setting
  • The ability to assess hazardous conditions related to respiratory care and take corrective action
  • The ability to work with patients of all ages (neonatal to geriatrics)
  • The ability to remain calm and function under stressful conditions
  • Must work well as a team member
  • Must be articulate and communicate well with all types of people

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree Baccalaureate degree in related healthcare field preferred
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist Registered respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred
