Job Summary
Provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to both in-patients and out-patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric. Monitors and weans Oxygen Therapy and Artificial ventilation, draws, analyzes and reports Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs, and delivers intermittent therapy. Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans. Performs diagnostic procedures and maintains up-to-date knowledge of technical procedures. Requires BLS, ACLS within 90 days, and NRP for NICU-trained therapists; preference for RRT certification and Bachelor's degree. Proficiency with Windows applications and data entry; strong verbal/written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
- Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (only for trained therapists working in the NICU)
- Possession of knowledge, skills and abilities listed in KSAs
- Ability to perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures per policy and procedure
- Ability to document clinical information and communicate effectively
