Job Summary
Assess patient needs and select appropriate respiratory equipment and services, while involving patients, families, and caregivers in the selection process. Administer clinical respiratory services as ordered by physicians, including care planning, therapy administration, discharge planning, and patient training to reduce hospital readmissions. Monitor respiratory supply levels, place replenishment orders, and perform preventive maintenance checks on home respiratory equipment during scheduled visits. Act as a liaison between the company, patients, physicians, and other healthcare agencies to resolve equipment issues and communicate condition changes. Maintain current licensure, complete required paperwork, and participate in educational programs to maintain competency in respiratory products and professional standards.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program
- Thorough knowledge and skill related to respiratory care field
- Ability to effectively supervise clinical personnel
- Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people to result in constructive working relationships
- Basic computer skills and knowledge
- People-sensitive characteristics with a genuine desire to help others
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Basic understanding of insurance requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance)
- Maintains current licensure in all states where patient care will be provided
Desired Qualifications
- Two-year hospital based respiratory care experience preferred
- One year's home care experience preferred
