Job Summary
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the Adults Flex Pool, deliver respiratory care procedures in general and intensive patient care areas or home care environments. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with age-specific plans; collaborate with the health-care team and patient/family; document treatments and medications; educate patients and families; participate in competency validation and ongoing professional development; act as a clinical role model and resource for staff; manage resources and contribute to performance improvement initiatives. Requires an Associate degree and/or CoARC-certified program, VA-licensed RCP, and RRT credential; BLS required within 3 months, with ACLS/NRP/PALS as needed within one year. Flex shift and variable schedule are inherent to the role.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree and/or certification required from a CoARC (Committee on Accreditation of Respiratory Care Education) approved school of respiratory therapy
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
- BLS within 3 months of employment
- ACLS, NRP, PALS certification within one year of employment (where applicable)
