Job Summary
Perform weaning mechanics and daily spontaneous breathing trials for over 90% of ventilator patients with high proficiency. Develop ventilator care plans, interpret complex diagnostic testing including bronchoscopy samples and PFTs, and validate results with minimal supervision. Administer advanced therapeutic interventions like heliox and nitric oxide while managing mechanical ventilation modes such as HFO and NPPV. Establish respiratory care plans based on patient data and integrate them into complete care protocols. Utilize standards and guidelines to continually improve care delivery and enhance outcomes. This role floats between Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Center for Personalized Health.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited CoArc (The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) respiratory program
- 2 Years of critical care experience
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- One of the following (ACLS, PALS or NRP)
- an additional Advance Certification (ACLS, PALS or NRP) or an Advanced Credential (ACCS, AEC, NPS, RPFT, CPFT or SDS) or a relevant Bachelors Degree
- BLS from AHA Upon Start
- Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Therapist
