Job Summary
Respiratory Extern role under supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist performing routine level respiratory therapy procedures (oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry), organizing and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment, cleaning/reassembling equipment per infection prevention guidelines, handling supplies, completing annual hospital competencies, and assisting with patient positioning and transporting as needed. Requires current enrollment in a respiratory therapy program and BLS certification. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to function independently; capacity to lift up to 50 lbs; must possess knowledge of growth and development to provide care appropriate to age of patients served; responsibilities may include adherence to department policies and procedures and ongoing learning of new equipment and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Respiratory Therapy
