Job Summary
Respiratory Care Shift Coordinator leads clinical and operational aspects of the Respiratory Care Services team during day shifts, assigns and re-deploys staffing using EMR reports, ensures safe handoffs, mentors staff, and supports performance-improvement activities. Requires licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, NBRC RRT credential, BLS, and applicable certifications with potential specialty/ECMO or transport certifications; bachelor’s degree preferred but associate degree required, plus 3 years RRT experience with 1 year in a critical care setting. Location: Blount Memorial Hospital, Maryville, TN. Responsibilities include staffing workload planning, EMR-based staff assignments, patient safety issue escalation, orientation and technical competency support, and adherence to regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the practicing state
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) NBRC credentials maintained
- BLS certification
- NRP, STABLE, PALS, ACLS, NPS, etc. certifications – must be obtained and maintained as required by work unit
- Specialty Certification/ECMO or Transport Team (preferred)
- NPS within 6 months to 1 year for Children’s Hospital Shift Coordinators
