Job Summary

Assess patient conditions using medical history, observations, and diagnostic procedures to develop or modify respiratory care plans. Administer diagnostic tests including blood gas sampling, oxygen saturation monitoring, and inhaled medications, while assisting with endotracheal intubation and bronchoscopy. Maintain artificial airways, provide mechanical ventilation, and transport patients for procedures. Respond to emergencies such as cardiopulmonary arrest and trauma activations, and initiate patient and caregiver teaching. Complete documentation of all observations and treatment modifications. Requires current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and American Heart Association BLS/PALS certification. Must hold an associate degree in Respiratory Care with continuous re-certification. Reports to Respiratory Care Manager in NICU, PICU, ED, and outpatient settings.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) designation / certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) designation/certification
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training
  • Associate degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited program, college, or university
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to communicate detailed clinical observations and evaluations with other members of the healthcare team
  • Analytical skills necessary to assess patient/family needs, prioritize care based on assessments and develop solutions to problems concerning patient's mental or physical well-being
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic team player who takes initiative
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills, able to shift priorities and able to work independently and problem solve in a fast paced, fluid environment
