Job Summary
Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) provides routine and advanced respiratory care procedures including administration and monitoring of medications and therapies, ventilator support, bronchoscopy assistance, spirometry, and gas therapy. May perform diagnostic testing of cardiac/respiratory systems and contributes to patient care as part of the direct care team. Responsibilities include delivering safe, high-quality respiratory services aligned with regulatory standards, documenting care and charges, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team. Requires licensure, RRT credential, and applicable life support certifications; on-call and night shift responsibilities are indicated. Emphasizes patient safety, quality, and customer service within Houston Methodist and affiliated facilities.
Required Qualifications
- RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC)
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner - State Licensure (Texas)
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation or Instructor (AHA,AAP)
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Instructor (AHA) depending on area assigned
- One year experience in Respiratory Care Practitioner preferred
Desired Qualifications
