Job Summary
Performs basic and critical respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients in the NICU; provides respiratory care for patients with respiratory disease as ordered by the physician; administers aerosol and oxygen therapy and draws arterial blood gases per policy; provides care to ventilator patients; maintains charts and documentation; participates in training and supervision of new employees; conducts pulmonary function tests and assists with cardio respiratory rehabilitation; provides instruction to patients and families; performs rounds to check respiratory therapy equipment; ensures compliance with ventilator bundles and VAP bundle; assists with equipment maintenance, stocking, and set-up of specialty equipment; supports physicians with bronchoscopies and other procedures; contributes to quality control, staff schedules, and competencies; may assist with additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS): Required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Required
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required
- AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS: Required
- AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS: Required
