Job Summary
Assess and document prescribed respiratory therapy appropriateness for adult and geriatric patients, administering aerosol and oxygen treatments while maintaining charts. Perform pulmonary function tests, drainage procedures, and ventilator care, including arterial blood gas draws and ensuring compliance with VAP and ventilator bundles. Provide patient and family instruction on cardiorespiratory disease, assist in bronchoscopies, and support nursing personnel in equipment surveillance. Maintain department records, manage equipment maintenance and inventory, and participate in staff training and supervision. Works full-time night shift at Adventist Health Sierra Vista's NICU in San Luis Obispo.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS
- AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS
- AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS
- All required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable
- Acknowledgement of E-Verify Participation and Right to Work notices
Desired Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential
