Respiratory Care Practitioner - NICU (Full-time, Night Shift)

Job Summary

Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapy, administer aerosol and oxygen treatments, and manage ventilator patients while drawing arterial blood gases. Perform pulmonary function tests, drainage procedures, and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation, providing instruction to patients and families on disease management. Maintain comprehensive electronic medical records, flow sheets, and charge documentation. Conduct daily equipment rounds, ensure compliance with VAP and ventilator bundles, and assist with bronchoscopies and specialty equipment setup. Serve as a clinical resource to physicians and staff regarding respiratory care techniques and safety protocols. Supports department record keeping, training of new employees, and quality control initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS
  • AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS
  • AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS
  • All required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable
  • Acknowledgement of E-Verify Participation and Right to Work notices

Desired Qualifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential
