Respiratory Care Practitioner - NICU (Full-time, Night Shift)

Job Summary
Performs basic and critical respiratory care services in the NICU for adult and geriatric patients, including ventilation support, aerosol and oxygen therapy, arterial blood gas sampling, and charting/charges. Provides care for patients with respiratory disease as ordered by physicians, maintains documentation and electronic medical records, and participates in supervision, training of new staff, rounds, and quality control. Assists with bronchoscopy and special procedures, helps with equipment maintenance, stocking, and re-ordering, and educates patients and families on cardio-respiratory disease and its implications. Ensures compliance with VAP and initial ventilator bundle orders and communicates diagnosis updates throughout the patient’s stay; collaborates with physicians and hospital staff on therapy effectiveness and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification: Required
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required
- AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS: Required
- AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS: Required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential: Preferred
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential: Preferred
