Job Summary

Deliver respiratory treatments, manage oxygen systems, and perform airway management including tracheal suctioning for residents with developmental disabilities. Assist with Activities of Daily Living such as lifting, transferring, and mobility support while implementing Individual Program Plans and monitoring progress. Conduct assessments, document incidents, and respond to medical or behavioral emergencies in compliance with state regulations. Perform light housekeeping, sanitation, and fire safety inspections to maintain a therapeutic environment. Report changes in resident condition to physicians and participate in interdisciplinary case conferences.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current Respiratory License/Credentials from an accredited body
  • California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a related role
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Proficiency in respiratory care methods, infection control, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency and ability to adapt to new software systems
  • Professional demeanor, empathy, confidentiality, and teamwork
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be available for overnight, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Must be able to operate motor vehicles and assistive equipment safely
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull
  • Must be able to run, kneel, or climb occasionally
  • Must be able to use a computer for prolonged periods
  • Must adhere to all infection control, health, and safety procedures
  • Must be able to observe, document, and report physical and behavioral changes
  • Must be able to respond effectively to medical or behavioral emergencies
  • Must be able to conduct assessments at admission, daily, and as needed
  • Must be able to supervise residents under special precautions
  • Must be able to maintain and monitor emergency medical equipment and supplies
  • Must be able to complete all incident and progress reports accurately and in a timely manner
  • Must be able to deliver all respiratory care in compliance with Respiratory Care Board regulations
  • Must be able to administer respiratory treatments and therapies safely and effectively
  • Must be able to manage oxygen delivery systems and ventilator care
  • Must be able to perform airway management and tracheal suctioning
  • Must be able to interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) results and initiate interventions
  • Must be able to administer prescribed medications accurately per protocol
  • Must be able to communicate changes in resident condition to physicians and staff promptly
  • Must be able to participate in shift handoffs, walking rounds, and interdisciplinary meetings
  • Must be able to document all treatments, outcomes, and resident responses in records
  • Must be able to participate in the development and review of each resident's IPP
  • Must be able to attend case conferences and care plan reviews
  • Must be able to contribute to goal-setting, skill development, and behavioral planning
  • Must be able to perform light housekeeping, laundry, and personal property organization
  • Must be able to inspect fire safety and adaptive equipment routinely
  • Must be able to report and correct safety hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately
  • Must be able to support infection control and universal precaution procedures
  • Must be able to attend a minimum of four (4) ICS meetings annually
  • Must be able to complete required continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain licensure
  • Must be able to participate in mandatory and ongoing training programs for skill enhancement
