Job Summary
Provide respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. Deliver procedures including oxygen and aerosolized medication delivery, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene therapy, and diagnostic services while monitoring patient response to modify therapy. Manage mechanical ventilators, perform pulmonary function tests, and assist physicians with bronchoscopy, intubation, and tracheostomy procedures. Conduct CPR, airway management, and arterial blood gas analysis. Serve as shift Charge Therapist by assigning staff, modifying work assignments, and ensuring adequate coverage. Educate patients and families on home therapy and equipment use. Maintain all respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, Related to Respiratory Therapy/Health care/Healthcare Admin/Business Admin
- Current Respiratory Care License in the state they are working
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AAP/AWHONN
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)
- Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT)
- ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) - NBRC
- Valid driver's license (required for Home Care/DME)
- Two years of experience as a Respiratory Care Professional
- Knowledge of non-invasive respiratory therapy equipment such as oximeters or end-tidal CO2 analyzers
- Therapeutic Procedures to include CPAP/BiPap, jet aerosol, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, chest physiotherapy, pulse oximetry, high flow oxygen, continuous aerosols, ventilator management, diagnostic testing
- Understanding of EKGs, electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias
- Arterial blood gas punctures and testing
- Airway maneuvers
- Bedside pulmonary function
- Patient assessment
- Patient education
- Knowledge of chest suction equipment
- Knowledge of chest X-ray interpretation
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training
