Job Summary
Manage artificial airways, conduct respiratory assessments, and administer aerosolized liquids and medications while monitoring oxygen therapy. Perform ventilator weaning, operate mechanical ventilators including Bi-Pap, and draw blood gases to interpret results. Implement emergency measures for life-threatening situations, change trach tubes, and perform spirometry and EKGs. Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, discharge, and referrals while utilizing SBAR for shift handoffs. Maintain equipment, complete monthly training, and float to other hospital areas as needed. Full-time night shift with full benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.
- Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) for state of California, required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, required.
- AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention (4 hour) due within 30 days.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB 1 or MAB 2), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other certification covering AB508 and SB1299
- Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiovascular Technology from an accredited institution.
- Associate degree related to pulmonary function from an accredited institution.
- All foreign degrees must be accompanied by a confirmation letter certifying that your education is US equivalent.
- Prior experience as a respiratory care practitioner but will train new graduated students from accredited schools.
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
