Job Summary

Manage artificial airways, administer aerosolized medications, and monitor oxygen therapy while conducting respiratory assessments and performing ventilator weaning. Operate mechanical ventilators, including Bi-Pap, and assist with C-sections by setting up infant ventilators. Perform spirometry, draw blood gases, change trach tubes, and safely troubleshoot respiratory equipment issues. Implement emergency measures for life-threatening situations and maintain basic cardiology knowledge. Document care accurately, utilize SBAR for handoffs, and collaborate across disciplines for patient transfers and discharge coordination. Adhere to strict HIPAA regulations, follow AIDET communication principles, and complete monthly training assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) for state of California, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, required.
  • AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention (4 hour) due within 30 days.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB 1 or MAB 2), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other certification covering AB508 and SB1299
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiovascular Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Associate degree related to pulmonary function from an accredited institution.
  • All foreign degrees must be accompanied by a confirmation letter certifying that your education is US equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a respiratory care practitioner but will train new graduated students from accredited schools.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
  • A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care.

  • May float to other areas of the hospital as needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Have at least one (1) year of Laboratory training or experience, or both, in blood gas analysis.
  • Have earned at least two (2) years of Laboratory training or experience, or both, in blood gas analysis.
