Job Summary
Coordinate daily clinical activities for patient care areas, assess patient health needs, and collaborate with the health team to coordinate care and anticipate intervention outcomes. Administer diagnostic tests including blood gas sampling and mechanical ventilation, while developing respiratory care plans and recommending therapy modifications to physicians. Provide clinical oversight, supervise staff, and initiate patient and caregiver teaching. Respond to emergencies such as cardiopulmonary arrest and trauma activations, and may assume 24-hour departmental management in the absence of leadership. Complete documentation of observations and treatment responses.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care
- American Heart Association (AHA) certification such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) certification such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care such as Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS) or completion of the Asthma Educator certification
- CPR Training
- Bachelor's degree
- Associate's degree in respiratory and actively enrolled in a bachelor's program
- 2+ years relevant experience
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently in all clinical areas within the health system
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years in pediatric and neonatal ICU experience
