Job Summary
Maintain respiratory equipment by cleaning, disinfecting, and setting up devices for patient use. Precisely test respiratory equipment before delivery to the bedside and assist with select patient care procedures under direct supervision. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to foster inclusion while ensuring patient safety and well-being. This Respiratory Care Assistant role supports Respiratory Therapists in providing safe, effective, and timely respiratory support at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health facilities across the Puget Sound region.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant (NA-C), or current enrollment with at least 3rd qtr standing in a therapist-level, Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education (JRCRTE)-approved Respiratory Therapy Program
- Current valid CPR certification
- Basic computer skills
- Understanding of respiratory equipment assembly, use and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of respiratory protocols
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The ability to attend to details and ability to remain organized and calm during stressful situations
