Job Summary
Assess patients, perform diagnostic tests, and operate therapeutic gas administration equipment in the emergency room. Administer medication therapy, manage mechanical ventilators, and develop care plans using approved therapist-driven protocols. Set up and administer routine and complex respiratory therapy procedures, including inhalants and environmental control systems. Perform invasive and noninvasive testing to treat acute and chronic respiratory illnesses while inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment. Evaluate treatment plan effects, monitor vital signs and arterial blood gases, and complete discharge planning with medical staff. Educate patients on disease states and safety, and provide clinical preceptorship for Respiratory Therapy Students.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a 2-4 year AMA approved Respiratory Program
- Respiratory Therapist - Registered Respiratory Therapist Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner for the State of Ohio
- RRT Credentials issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care
- Current BLS with ACLS, PAL or NRP for respective area
- Acute/critical care knowledge as it relates to cardiopulmonary disease states
- Ability to precept acute/critical care areas
- Supervisory capabilities
