Resource & Support Specialist (SYEP)

Job Summary

Meet with prospective participants to determine personal goals, career aspirations, and barriers, then guide them through identifying strengths and skills on their path to individual success. Provide coaching, advocacy, and barrier remediation to teens and young adults, including referring them to internal and external resources to overcome challenges. Document all conversations and enter assessments, goal information, and employment or education attainment data into Y.O.U.'s systems to ensure compliance with public and government management requirements. Facilitate Eligibility/Intake, Job Coach Training, and Orientation Sessions alongside Job Coaches, while working in partnership with program leaders, administrative staff, and seasonal staff to provide wraparound support throughout enrollment and work experience phases. Support participant efforts to obtain employment or enroll in post-secondary education, and build positive relationships with partner organizations including schools, businesses, and government entities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Education) from an accredited college or university preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in human services, social work, case management, education in a school setting, or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience working with young adults and providing supportive services and/or community resources
  • Familiar with Cleveland's network of social services providers
  • Must have valid transportation to/from Y.O.U. offices, partner organizations, and other community-based locations to meet with clients
  • Must pass a background BCI/FBI check as a condition of employment
  • Belief and commitment to Y.O.U.'s mission, vision, and values
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated active listening skills
  • Possess high level of integrity and ability to use good judgement and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Proven ability to build quality business relationships internally and externally

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results oriented, and data driven environment
  • Proven ability to complete tasks and juggle multiple initiatives with minimal supervision
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours
  • Must be able to sit for computer and phone work for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs periodically and carry office supplies
  • Must be able to stand and walk throughout office buildings
  • Must be able to work in an environment outside a normal office space that may include exposure to extreme temperature, noise, or other hazards
  • Must be able to work in a workspace free of distractions and background noise when working remotely

Desired Qualifications

  • 3 day in-office during non-peak programming (September – February)
  • 5 days a week in-office during peak programming (March – August)
  • Travel to offsite locations up to 50% of the time for meetings, programs, events, or activities
