Job Summary

Resource Navigator stationed primarily at the Engagement Center in downtown Pittsburgh, providing welcoming support to clients, listening to their needs, developing short-term action plans, and connecting them with housing and related services. Responsibilities include concierge duties (registering clients, sign-ups, wayfinding), triage and navigation (motivational interviewing, developing daily/near-term plans, linking to shelters or case management as needed), and housing coaching (assisting with computer use, applications, communications with landlords, and accessing resources). The role emphasizes collaboration within a team of Resource Coordinators, confidentiality, and helping clients move toward housing and recovery goals. Ideal candidates have strong listening, empathy, trauma-informed care, and partnership-building skills and can work both independently and as part of a fast-paced, client-centered team with strong documentation practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services-related field of study OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years’ experience in successfully providing services to people facing housing crises
  • Knowledge of resources available to people experiencing crises, including homelessness
  • Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed care
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) and to learn program-specific software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to accompany clients to appointments and with street outreach staff when needed
  • Willingness to adjust work schedule
  • Act 33, Act 34, and FBI clearances
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable insured vehicle or other reliable transportation to locations around the county
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
