Job Summary
Conduct resistance welding operations, perform mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance, and manage shift schedules for a team of operators. Troubleshoot assembly machinery, update weld run schedules, and oversee new equipment startups while ensuring safety, quality, and continuous process improvements. Maintain accurate production records, manage spare parts inventory, and lead performance evaluations for department staff.
Required Qualifications
- Must be skilled with both hand and power tools
- Must possess demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Previous manufacturing experience or related machine experience
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Use common sense to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Strong personal leadership and communication abilities
- In-company job experience as an above-average operator or fine mechanic
- Must be able to set up, operate, and adjust all assembly equipment according to job requirements
- Must be able to perform general maintenance
- Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical problems
- Must be able to perform in a team-oriented environment
- Must be able to perform assembly equipment programming
- Must understand weld principals
- Must understand weld schedule programming
- Must maintain spare parts/consumables necessary for production
- Must record machine downtime
- Must track machine efficiencies
- Must be able to interact with Engineering during new job startups
- Must be able to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair assembly equipment
- Must be able to instruct Weld Operators in the proper sequence of equipment
- Must ensure all safety, failsafe/poka-yoke, and ergonomic features are functional
- Must be able to update and keep accurate records of machine programs, production records, safety, and machine performance
- Must be able to understand and update Weld Run Schedule
- Must be able to understand input and output and PLC communication
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence
- Must be able to speak effectively to employees of the organization
- Must be able to regularly stand
- Must be able to regularly walk
- Must be able to regularly use hands to handle, or feel
- Must be able to regularly reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to regularly talk or hear

- Must be able to perform other tasks as required by the Plant Manager
- Must be able to maintain training and ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company procedures, policies and regulations
- Must be able to develop among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain department objectives
- Must be able to conduct performance evaluation of each department employee
- Must be able to manage shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, and back-up for absent employees
- Must be able to complete shift paperwork
- Must be able to participate in LPA's, PFMEA (as required), Production Meetings and others as they apply
- Must be able to participate in plant-wide safety/5S audits
- Must be able to perform tip changes and Weld Cell Changeovers
- Must be able to continuously improve equipment and processes to make it safe and efficient as possible
- Must be able to continually work for improvement on non-conformance, scrap and variances to standard performance
- Must be able to assist the Plant Manager by taking charge of an operating shift and performing responsibilities of the manager on that shift
- Must be able to ensure that training is properly completed
- Must be able to report misuse or abuse of equipment, or finding that any poka-yoke has been bypassed
- Must be able to support production
- Must be able to perform Mechanical/electrical set up and adjustments of equipment prior to production
- Must be able to aid in the startup of new equipment
- Must be able to perform any other directly related appropriate duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing experience or related machine experience: machine operator, general labor, or train with qualified TI Trainer for 60 days
- Previous manufacturing experience or related machine experience preferred
