Job Summary
Model behavior and provide supervision, guidance, structure, and behavior management to youth in residential and shelter programs. Serve as a positive role model while actively supervising youth through engaging activities and planning daily routines. Use verbal de-escalation techniques to intervene in crises and offer support to youth, their families, and ancillary service providers. Provide transportation for community-based needs and participate in documenting activities through shift logs and incident reports. Maintain confidentiality in all communications and demonstrate patience and empathy when building rapport with adolescents.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High school diploma
- Candidates must be available to work weekends
- Ability to lift 30 pounds
- Must be trauma-informed
- Must be able to demonstrate patience and empathy to build rapport with adolescents who use aggression as a coping mechanism
- Must be able to use verbal de-escalation techniques to intervene in crises with youth
- Must be able to use physical de-escalation techniques to intervene if staff or clients are in danger of being physically harmed
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions
- Familiarity with computers and MS Office
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and disability issues
