Job Summary
Casual Residential Youth Worker responsible for direct, hands-on support of vulnerable young people in a residential crisis setting. Provide intake, assess, induct and document services; assist with daily living needs (meals, hygiene, safety); maintain a child-safe environment; support goal attainment and life skills development; run group programs and workshops; liaise with case managers and external services; complete case notes and administrative tasks; operate within a 24/7 rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts. Emphasizes trauma-informed, youth-centred care and alignment with NSW child protection requirements. Abides by Mission Australia values and fosters an inclusive, supportive service environment.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in Social/Community Welfare/Youth Work/Social Science, or relevant experience
- Experience or understanding of working with young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness
- Strong knowledge NSW child protection and mandatory reporting requirements
- Current First Aid Certificate
- A NSW driver’s licence
- National police history check and referee checks, and clearance to work with children/vulnerable people
