Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents (two-person married couple) reside on campus in student homes at Milton Hershey School to provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for approximately 813 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The role begins with a nine-on, three-off schedule and then transitions to a placed houseparent role living with the same group of students. Salary is $44,768 per person (approximately $168,000 total per couple with benefits), relocation assistance provided, and comprehensive benefits. Requires two-spouse, legally married partnership for at least two years, with both spouses aged 27 or older; on-campus housing is included.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED completed
- Two-spouse partnership legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver's license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Sunday Chapel
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; role-modeling for students
- Willingness to relocate to Hershey, PA and reside on-campus in student homes
- Ability to follow a working schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off (Flex Houseparents)
- Ability to manage household routines, supervise student schedules, and oversee budgeting and reporting
- Proficiency in driving students to activities and planning developmental/recreational activities
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
