Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents reside on campus at Milton Hershey School to supervise and mentor 8–13 students in on-campus homes, coordinating daily routines, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and leading development and recreational activities, and guiding students through devotions and chapel. The role progresses from initial placement in multiple student homes to a Placed Houseparent assignment with the same group of students. The position requires a legally married two-person team, both spouses aged 27+, a high school diploma or GED, a valid U.S. driver’s license with eligibility to be certified to drive student vans, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Relocation to Hershey, PA is provided with comprehensive benefits, paid training, housing and meals on duty, and PTO. The role emphasizes a structured, family-like environment focused on students’ academic, emotional, and social development, with a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off during the initial phase and eventual stability in a single student home.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
