Job Summary
Residential Youth Caregiver - Flex Houseparents: a two-person, married-couple role serving on-campus in Milton Hershey School student homes as Full-time Flex Houseparents. Responsibilities include providing daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The role starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual transition into a Placed Houseparent role living with the same group of students. Benefits include relocation assistance and comprehensive insurance; salary is paid per person and totals approximately $168,000 for the couple.
Required Qualifications
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Sunday Chapel
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Relocation assistance provided
- Full-time on-campus residence in student homes
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Age 27 or older for both spouses
- No more than three dependent children in student home
- Willingness for both spouses to complete individual applications
- Two-spouse role living and working with same group of students
- Placed Houseparent progression after initial period
