Job Summary
Two-person married-couple Full-time Flex Houseparents live on Milton Hershey School campus in a role caring for 8–13 students in a home setting. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning to a Placed Houseparent with a stable student-home assignment. Schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off; relocation assistance and paid training provided. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a commitment to a smoke- and weapon-free campus with no alcohol on duty. For consideration, both spouses must complete individual employment applications.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
